Proper preparation will help you make the most of your training from day one.
Physical Preparation
Build Basic Fitness
Start a simple routine of running, stretching, and bodyweight exercises (push-ups, squats, lunges) 2–3 weeks before arrival. This will help your body adapt to the physical demands of training.
Improve Flexibility
Practice daily stretching, focusing on legs, hips, and lower back. Flexibility is essential for high kicks and low stances.
Strengthen Your Core
A strong core supports balance, power, and injury prevention. Planks, sit-ups, and leg raises are excellent preparation.
Expect Soreness
Even with preparation, you will experience muscle soreness in the first weeks. This is normal and part of the process.
Mental Preparation
Open Mind
Embrace that things will be different—food, language, customs. Approach challenges with curiosity rather than frustration.
Patience
Kung Fu is a long-term practice. Progress takes time. Trust the process.
Set Goals
Whether you want to learn a specific form, improve fitness, or simply experience Chinese culture, having clear goals will keep you motivated.
