How does a Shaolin summer end?

From early July to late August 2026, groups of young students left their air conditioning and phones behind and spent the season at the Shaolin Zhongwu Research and Study Base at the foot of Mount Song. As the final session finished its closing demonstration and every camper received a completion certificate, the 2026 summer camp officially came to a close.

On the training ground, sweat does not lie

How much can change in one summer? For many campers, the answer is everything: from unsteady horse stances at the start, to fists and kicks moving with real power, to performing the complete Shaolin Thirteen Fists (Shi San Quan) routine by the end. Those changes happened in just a few weeks of daily practice under the guidance of the school's coaches.

On study tours, horizons quietly open

Beyond the training ground, campers stepped out of the base and into a thousand years of history. They visited the Shaolin Temple, the Pagoda Forest and Damo Cave, touching the source of Chan culture, and walked through the Songyang Academy and the ancient observatory at Gaocheng, feeling the wisdom and vision of the ancients.

Certificates, broadswords and new friends

The closing weeks brought demonstrations of what the campers had learned: broadsword routines on the grass, group performances beneath the school's plaque, and quiet hours of cultural class indoors. The season ended with certificates in hand and photos with coaches and new friends from different countries.
