Kung Fu Star Wei Wei Visits Shaolin Zhongwu to Scout Film Talent
In June 2026, Shaolin Zhongwu Research and Learning Base welcomed a special guest: Wei Wei (魏威), a young film actor, a lay disciple of the Shaolin Temple, and a Guinness World Record holder raised in the Shaolin tradition.
This was more than a courtesy call. Wei Wei came with a casting mission: in the future, he plans to scout promising students from the base and recommend them to film crews for movie and television productions. For students dreaming of the big screen, the stage may be right beneath their feet.
Wei Wei is a hard-style kung fu heir trained within the Shaolin system. His master, Master Shi Decheng (释德成), is the founder of the Songshan Shaolin Shi Decheng Kung Fu School. Although Wei Wei has made his name on the big screen, he still carries the traditional master-disciple lineage at his core.
During the visit, Wei Wei praised the base's rich and scientifically structured kung fu curriculum. In his view, Shaolin Zhongwu students have solid foundations and outstanding spirit and focus, exactly what today's film industry looks for in a new generation of action actors. He therefore intends to build a "talent pool" of screen-action performers based on the base's student community.
Staying true to orthodox kung fu while exploring new horizons, Shaolin Zhongwu is excited to build this bridge between martial arts training and the film industry. Train hard with us, and your kung fu journey may take you further than you imagine.
